6-8 lessons on Settlements, aimed at KS3 students, specifically year 7. Included are worksheets and printables I created that support activities in PPTs.
Lessons are for 50 mins to 1 hour teaching episodes, and some are for a double lesson.
Lesson sequence:
1- -How settlements get their names, with examples from North Somerset
2 - Settlement patterns
3 - Settlement hierarchies
4 & 5 - Urban land use
6 & 7 - Choosing a settlement - our task is to choose somewhere to live on an imaginary island - 5 locations to choose from, consolidating learning from previous lessons. This makes a very nice extended writing assessment piece, as students can write a report in the style of a GCSE decision making report.
