This lesson takes students through the meaning of the extended metaphor, and the context behind Lord Capulet’s decision to bring forward the marriage of Juliet to Paris.

Students are supported to write about the surface meaning of the metaphor and then to explore the thinking behind it in greater detail.

The presentation is on a pale yellow background with sans serif font. There is a handout containing information and exercises.

Resources are in original form (PowerPoint/Word) and in pdf form.

This lesson requires students to have read Act 3 Scene 5 of ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
