In this lesson I have used a Stuart Pryke’s ‘How to teach Macbeth’ and combined it with a worksheet found on TES.

This lesson looks at the character of Lady Macbeth who has been MIA since A3, exploring how we feel about her now that she is not such a main character, that Macbeth is becoming more ruthless on his own and making predictions for her future in the play.

We then move to her referring to past events in the play and the significance of that, I do this by asking students to put themselves in Shakespeare’s shoes: What are his intentions here?

Finally, we look at the motif of hands in the play and apply it to quotations and analysis.

Hope this helps :)
