IT also converts given number to the VIGESIMAL (base 20) system
i.e. 0=0, 1=1, 2=2, …, 9=9, 10= A, 11=B, … , 19=J.
Using different number bases is alway a great lesson to get the students to think about place value and how that works.
It is also an excellent way to practice multiplication, division, addition and subtraction as well as some logical thinking. It is also me looking back to the day when you had to do calculate in £, /- , d. and st, lb and oz etc.
A PROBABLE USE IS TO GIVE THE STUDENTS A NUMBER TO CONVERT and USE THIS TO CHECK ANSWERS
OR
USE IT AS A Q&A session/lesson on Converting backwards and forwards between different bases.
I have other MAYAN resources including information/worksheets sheets.
It should work on any computer as it doesn’t have any macros etc but I made it on EXCEL for the MAC. I think it is best when the screen is zoomed in so that you can only see the main area surrounded by the brown box.
