National Curriculum Key Stages 2 and 3 etc
Curriculum sites state that Mindfulness promotes well-being and:
• enhances learning of knowledge and skills;
• extends thinking skills;
• helps self-understanding;
• helps to be resilient and resourceful when life is challenging;
• steadies the person when their mind/body is too busy or out of balance;
• helps learn how thinking processes impact on emotions;
• supports the person in activities and relationships.
Mindfulness is a kind of meditation which helps the ability to focus on senses and feelings in the moment, involving breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to reduce anxiety and relax the body and mind.
• Some ways to practise mindfulness:
• guided meditation;
• colouring in pictures or doodling;
• go for a walk;
• wish other people happiness;
• focus on one thing at a time;
