Students will be able to recognize the symbolism of keeping the flag at half-staff for the deceased veterans from sunrise to noon and raising it to full staff from noon onwards for the living soldiers by constructing a movable flag that can be raised and lowered on a pole. A learning objective, subject summary and application in real life, materials needed for each student and the step by step directions needed to create this lesson are all detailed in each of my lesson plans.
