Plastic Pollution / Sustainability Comprehension and Research Booklet (13 pages including the cover page).
A short story is provided (re. plastic pollution, climate change and poaching in Indonesia) as well as a set of 12 x comprehension questions (re. imagery, foreshadowing, vocabulary, characterisation, logical reasoning etc). 5 x extension questions are provided which require longer responses about environmental issues and opinions. 35 x research questions are then provided (which could be used as part of a cross-curricular project with Science, Geography and Mathematics). The student then has to choose more environmentally-friendly options from a selection provided and evaluate the environmental impact of making personal, specific changes (an example is provided). The student is given a template for drafting an up-cycling project plan (with example projects provided). Finally, there is a task for the student to group similar sentiments (from a table of environmental awareness cartoons and quotes) and to put each group’s specific key idea(s) into their own words (an example is provided).
