Using the book “One Is a Snail, Ten Is A Crab” this lesson explores the different ways the number ten can be composed by exploring the number of feet different animals have. I used this in an interview for Year 1 and the school loved it! It can be very open ended and help develop problem solving skills. Can also be adapted for other objectives such as number bonds.
