Which picture doesn’t belong and is the odd-one-out? These 40 discussion cards are a great speaking activity for finding similarities and differences between basic vocabulary items. There are 4 objects on each card and your students must explain which one doesn’t belong to the vocabulary set and why. It’s a great small group or whole class vocabulary building activity and gets everyone speaking and listening. Helps with critical thinking and reasoning skills in L2. The objects are very basic and there is really no one right answer. As long as the student has a reasonable explanation as to why the object is different, it’s correct! This can also spark debate among students which is great for speaking practice!
