This lesson was written for the new AQA Combined English Language and Literature A Level spec and focuses on the purpose and power of storytelling within the play. It encourages pupils to think about the structure of stories at a discourse level (using Labov’s narrative structure) and to analyse the stories within the play, evaluating how they touch upon central thematic conflicts and distribute power between the characters.
