Many thanks to whoever designed the original copy of this which I believe was for learning vocabulary.
Objective: to capitalise young learners’ interest in writing characters.
Method: decoding stroke orders, focusing on details, boosting writing memory.
Pros: low preparation for teachers; adapts to all topic-based vocabulary
Cons: need self-directed logs to track progress, so it might be better with a reward system for lower years.
Practice: I introduced it at different year groups as a way of self-directed learning, and found that it suits better with Year 7s who really enjoy learning about Chinese and Year 9s who struggle with writing characters.
Feedback: popular ones are dinner with heart throbs, stroke drill polos, alphabet aero and radical buddies.
