This unit of work contains approximately 1 week’s worth of worksheets, activities and a FREE animated powerpoint with a suggested lesson sequence in a mastery style approach to teaching and learning. Suggested activities are given for use of afl (eg miniwhiteboards), the use of manipulatives and pictorial ideas where appropriate. Notes also provide suggestions for carrying out each slide or activity.
Suggestions are given where lessons may start and end dependent on individual teachers and the length and number of lessons per week. Teachers may wish to add extra examples or provide scaffolding where appropriate to ensure all students can access the work.
All worksheets and activities have been provided in pdf format for ease of printing.
It covers the WRM small steps as follows
• Understanding the meaning of equality
• Understand and use fact families, numerically and algebraically
• Solve one-step linear equations involving +/- using inverse operations
