Plastic Pollution Education Pack & Miraculous Ladybug Special Episode

The Education Pack
This resource focuses on empowering children to become plastic changemakers in their homes and communities and encourage their friends and families to tackle plastic pollution.

Consisting of 5 classroom modules making up a complete theme including all teacher lesson plans, in class presentations and student worksheets. There is also an introductory video and plenary video (30 secs each) with one of the characters from the Episode.

Created by education and environment experts and designed to be flexible so that teachers can choose how and when to use the resources.

Modules include:

1. Plastic the story so far: 1a)Why it was invented, why it can be useful and why we can stop using it instantly 1b) the journey of plastic into our environment 1c)the impact of plastic on animals and humans

2. The 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. But with a focus on everyday items that children use in their lives and how we can shift our choices.

3. Innovation and Creativity: focus on STEM Methodology as students work together to come up with innovative ways to combat the Plastic Problem.

4. Youth Empowerment and Leadership: understanding leadership, what makes a good leader and investigating examples of real world leaders as well as improving public speaking skills and confidence to present.

5. Become an Advocate Against Plastic: Understanding environmental campaigns and their key characteristics before creating their own plastic focused environmental campaign.

**The Episode: **

The Breteau Foundation and Mediawan Kids and Family have co-produced a special episode of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir entitled ‘ACTION’.

The 26 minute episode raises awareness about the plastic crisis. It is targeted to primary school children aged 7-11. Teachers can stream the episode (free of charge) in their classrooms.

“Action” is both educational and entertaining. The plot centres on Marinette, Adrien and their friends actively fighting the battle against plastic pollution in Paris. The young eco warriors will be taken on a whirlwind adventure through which they will learn about the problem of plastic pollution and ways we can all make changes in our daily lives, and influence those around us to kickstart a movement on responsible plastic use.
