AQA GCSE English Literature (8702) Paper 2 Poetry Anthology (the Power & Conflict cluster). Year 10 & / or Year 11.

These booklets are designed for either students with a GCSE target grade of 4 - 5 (the differentiated booklet) or 5 & above who are studying the AQA course (8702). The learning objective is for students to record accurate and relevant notes, in order to create an accessible revision resource.

These booklets can be used by students whilst they are reading the poems from this cluster or to summarise their notes as part of their revision process. The booklet allows students to record:

• each poem’s narrative (section-by-section or for each stanza); the differentiated material presents these notes as a cloze exercise.
• two key quotes per poem, with an accompanying image (the quotes can also be labelled with the writer’s methods); the differentiated material has key quotes already selected.
• the key theme(s) for each poem; the differentiated material presents these notes as a cloze exercise.
• important context comments; these ideas are recorded in an acrostic-style & can cover comments that relate to either the poet, the historical context or the reader’s response. The differentiated material presents these notes as a cloze exercise.

Alternatively, these booklets can be used as homework tasks.

The differentiated booklet features greater support for each poem in the form of cloze exercises. The additional booklet provides the suggested answers for this booklet.
