This is a PowerPoint I used to introduce rearranging expressions to my Year 9 class. It is very straight forward and adaptable if you wish to change any of it.
I also printed out A4 pages of 'x', '-1', '=' and 'y' and I chose three students to come up to the front of the class and they had to rearrange themselves to make x the subject. I also had '+1' printed on an A4 page. The class all discussed different options and enjoyed the practical.
