This lesson pack for chapter one of Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier contains everything needed to explore the text in either a classroom or virtual lesson.
The lesson scaffolds the close reading of the opening chapter and leads to students planning and writing an in depth analytical essay.
NB the opening chapter itself is NOT included due to copyright restrictions. However, It is widely available online with a quick Google search, or of course by using print copies of the book.
Tips about activities can be found in the ‘speaker notes’. Four worksheets are included at the end of these slides and are designed in black, grey and white to allow for easy printing. If you are teaching online, copies can be made of these slides to allow students to type directly onto the worksheets.
Lesson slides can be edited so that you can tailor them to your specific students.
This lesson works brilliantly for CIE IGCSE Literature in English and KS5, but can also be adapted for GCSE Language Paper 1 unseen prose.
