I came up with this for the week commencing January 4th - for remote learning in Design and Technology. It is a powerpoint that can be set for students on remote learning platforms such as Teams or Google classrooms. It is suitable for most secondary year groups and it could be made more complex or simple if required.

Students are given a list of designers (see below) to chose from, they have to chose one and do 3 tasks on them - investigating their work and then designing in the style of them.

There are examples of all the designers work on the powerpoint to give students a feel for their work and the students (lower ability) could use the examples on the powerpoint to analyse.

I have also done an example of the kind of work I would expect the students to complete and an assessment criteria which teachers could use by highlighting and getting the best fit for assessment. This makes the marking of the work very easy to do.

The designers I have chosen also fall into 6 categories and I have chosen ones that are in the AQA Design and Technology specification.
They are as follows:

PRODUCT DESIGNERS:
i) Marcel Breuer ii) Ettore Sottsass iii) Phillippe Stark
ARCHITECTS:
i) Norman Foster ii) Zara Hadid iii) Charles Rennie Macintosh
JEWELLERY DESIGNERS/COMPANIES:
i) Raymond Templier ii) Tatty Devine iii) Georg Jensen
FASHION DESIGNERS/COMPANIES:
i) Alexander McQueen ii) Vivian Westwood iii) Under Armour
ENGINEERS:
i) James Dyson ii) Elon Musk iii) Neri Oxman
GRAPHIC DESIGNERS:
i) Harry Beck ii) Alex Trochut iii) Susan Kare
