Cambridge Songs of Ourselves

This is a lesson or set of lessons on Doris Lessing’s - Report on the threatened city.

The lesson is set out in any easy to follow format, with copious teachers notes providing the necessary information and a set of slides to present to students.

The lesson covers the main points and ideas and contains a number of student tasks (discussion, skill identification, group work, written task) related to the the
text.

It covers a wide range of literary areas such as narrative voice, imagery, conflict, themes, symbolism, lit devices, quotes, internal conflict and provides a summary of the text.

The lesson and slides are set as a text based information pack for chalk and talk to engage the students in discussion and analysis, once they have read the story.

The pack contains a Word document and Power Point - both are easily editable if required.

The text in the word doc may align differently once downloaded - created on google doc’s then converted into .docx.
