Scientific Skills Lava Flow Investigation for use with unit 8H

This lesson helps students get used to planning and carrying out an investigation. The focus is on viscosity of lava and speed of flow. Can be used with year 7 in an introduction unit, in unit 8H for year 8 or in year 9 for controlled assessment foundation work. Practical needs different thickness wallpaper paste solutions, white tiles and timers. Students use the proforma to write predictions, results, conclusions and evaluate their findings.
