ADD SPICE to pupils' writing by using these clear, informative posters!
Working in Years 5 and 6, I noticed that many children lacked variation or creativity in their sentence openers, often leading to repetitive pieces of writing. I decided to make these simple posters to give pupils a range of options to support their writing, and I have noticed a significant difference in how pupils approach writing tasks. There is now a variation to sentence openers, with pupils opting for more complex vocabulary.
I use these posters above my Literacy working wall, however they could easily be printed much smaller to support pupils when they are working at their tables.
Each poster is displayed in a South-American style (perfect if you have a topic based around this or just want something different!) with a clear heading, example sentence and different examples of the sentence opener. I have provided the eight posters in Word format so that they can be edited with any vocabulary or example sentences.
So if you're in UKS2, or desperately want to stretch the writing of your Year 3 or 4 class, this is the resource for you.
