I have created a Snakes and Ladders board with coloured squares, blue and pink, which when landed on COULD be forfeits with questions on coloured paper of cards. I have used this many times with age 8-16 year olds! I usually use Blue cards as Mental arithmatic and pink as subject specific to what I'm teaching them. All you need is a dice(die) and counters! Ive laminated mine to make it last a long time. The word document is an example of the cards I have made, these are for a year 4 student.

If students land on a coloured square, I presume they have to answer one of the Maths questions on the attached Word file, which will then decide if they go down the snake/up the ladder etc.. - a nice idea!
