Sort the alien and real words - set 1 2 3 RWI and cotton bud paint numbers

Here are three activities that I am using for the free flow tables in Year 1…

1. Reading challenge - Sort the words into Alien and Real. Each word card has a RWI level on so the children know which pile to select (and the cards can be easily tidied away afterwards). If the card has a * on, then this means that it is a challenge card (eg silent k, ce/se word endings, au sound, wh, ph, y word ending).
2. Write a letter to the Alien about the planet earth. This linked to our topic but you could change the focus of your letter if you wanted.
3. Use a cotton bud to paint the correct amount of spots for a given number.
