This resource was produced for Edexcel specification 2011. However, a high proportion of this core knowledge will also be on the new specification.
The students play space invaders. After a certain amount of time they have to answer a question. They type in their answer. If they get it right they are allowed to play more of the game. If they get it wrong they lose a life. I have used the competitive nature of students to run as a competition in the lesson and then award prizes at the end.
There is a data base of 39 questions which the game randomly picks from. The game is for ONE player.
Use to help students embed their learning of core chemical knowledge. Also develops literacy as the answer is marked incorrect if the word is incorrectly spelt.
Used in year 10 for measurable impact AND high level of student engagement.
