This ppt uses an animated story to show why static friction occurs. It could be used in Physics or Mechanics lessons, formula is explained with questions. I developed it to help my BTEC Engineering students visualise what was happening in the real world and where the formula comes from. Following the explanation there are some simple questions with answers to establish understanding.
