Structure of the Earth

Structure of the Earth construction and research task. (approx 3-4 hours of lesson time, less if construction is set for home work.)

Task 1:

Independent task: Worksheet to guide students through researching the structure of the Earth, using text books or ICT equipment. Originally designed for OCR Gateway science B and is graded using the specification. Double sided worksheet.


Task 2:

Modelling task: Students design and build their own model to demonstrate the structure of the Earth and continental drift theory. Double sided worksheet is structured so that students can:

1. Plan how they will construct their model, materials used and how it helps explain the science.
2. Self evaluate - guided with questions.
3. Peer evaluation following presentation of the model to another group -3 x What went well and 2 x Even Better if which students can then act on.
4. Reflection on what other groups models have taught them.
