Looking for engaging place value games to see and work out the value of tens & ones? Make visualizing 2-digit numbers as quantities fun with these low-prep activities. This set of 6 10’s and s games is perfect to help your students become quicker & more confident with converting quantities to numbers.

The games use different illustrations with cute clipart - 10-rods and ones (or Dienes), tally, fingers, dice and spots on ladybirds. Quick and easy setup plus clear instructions make the Maths games ideal for lessons, centres, homework and supply days.

The games will help your students practice and consolidate place value of tens & ones in engaging ways. Differentiation is easy as there are easier and harder numbers to work out. The games are ideal for whole class scenarios - play as a stand-alone activity or at the end of a lesson - and for smaller groups.

Challenge them to play again but to complete the loop faster to encourage speed. Students will love playing and won’t even realize how much they are getting quicker at seeing the relationship between place value and quantities.

You will get:

6 Loop Games with 32 cards in each game using:

  • Ten Rods and Ones (or Dienes) in color
  • Ten Rods and Ones (or Dienes) in black and white
  • Tally
  • Hands and Fingers - Challenge adding 5 + 1/2/3/4/5
  • Dice - Challenge adding 1/2/3/4/5/6 + 1/2/3/4/5/6
  • Spots on ladybirds - also practice doubles and ‘near-doubles’

Plus:

  • 24 cards with illustrations to show quantities and students say or write down this as a number - great as a starter or recap
  • instructions
  • teaching notes
  • patterns to use for the backs of cards

Banish those boring ways of practicing essential place value skills by using popular loop games. Students will play in groups or as a whole class and see if they can set a new record time to complete the loop. Stop the timer and encourage them to discuss the place value of the tens and ones e.g. what is the difference between 12 and 21?

  • Teachers’ notes with suggestions on how to structure the lesson
  • Great for your **Maths centres?
  • Use these as a quick stand-alone activity throughout the day to recap tens & ones

  • Loop games are easy and fun to play
  • Instructions are included
  • Players will check each other’s understanding and therefore be learning together
