On the return to England ,“The Endeavour” came across the East Coast of Australia. The Native people of the land regarded the appearance of “The Great White Ghost ship” as a strange event. They were not willing to welcome these pallid-skinned people onto their lands. Find out what happened. Become aware of the confrontation in the Botany Bay area and the skirmish connected to the 12 green turtles on the beach area of what would be called “The Endeavour RIver:”.
Find out why many on board were interested in landing on what was for them, the unknown land. Captain Cook was a great navigator, cartographer (Map drawer) and commander. He did not, however, discover Australia. He was at least forty thousand years too late to deserve that title. Join the journey. Recognise the reasons for confrontation, Find our why this journey nearly ended with a shipwreck. Add to this a bit of physical geography as the ship passes “The Glasshouse Mountains”. This area provided great interest for the naturalists and artists on board. Several did not survive.This unit could standalone. It could be part of the series. It could form the background for the first European settlement of New South Wales.
