The Most Magnificent Thing Read Aloud Book Guide accompanies the 2014 children’s book by Ashley Spires. Challenge students to connect with the girl and her experience of failing, taking a step back, and starting again. Identify and analyze the author’s use of descriptive adjectives and action verbs. Discuss and evaluate the various prototypes that come before the final ‘Magnificent Thing.’ Explore the concept of why magnificent things are hard to accomplish and ask students to recall and describe their own difficult accomplishments.
