How we play and learn KS1/Year 1/Autumn 1 PSHE lesson.
Created with a view to being delivered in the first half-term of the year, this lesson explores the different ways that children play and learn, and the reasons why it is important to balance our time between a variety of activities.
In this lesson, the children will learn about different kinds of play including indoor, outdoor, alone, with others, using equipment, or using your imagination. We will reflect on the importance of balancing screen-based activities with other types of play and highlight the importance of imaginative play.
We will read, The Box, by Martha Lightfoot, before completing activities linked to the text. The lesson includes a starter activity, a story with accompanying questions, a ‘what’s in the box?’ activity, a creative task, a card match, and a plenary task.
Created to fit the new DfE and PSHE Association statutory 2020 /21 guidelines, the lesson includes a detailed PowerPoint, all editable with accompanying tasks and worksheets.
The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to.
