A week’s worth of whole class guided reading sessions aimed at UKS2. Each day is based around a reading skill (based on the reading roles by @thatboycanteach) with a SATs style independent activity for the Friday lesson. Included is a PPT, worksheets and extract.
Using short extracts from popular books has really helped to foster a love of reading in the classroom. Once they have had a taste through the lessons, many children have been out to buy the books or borrowed them from the class library. (I always make sure there is at least one copy of each book I take an extract from).
