Vocabulary Building - Ambitious Vocabulary

This resource was designed to support GCSE English Language students develop their vocabulary when writing persuasively. As an experienced examiner, I noted down 20 ambitious words which helped students argue effectively and precisely.
In this booklet, students learn these words by completing various tasks such as: learning the etymology of the words, practising phonetic pronunciation, drawing the word into a memorable image and using the word in a sentence. This proved effective for my learners as it developed both their curiosity about language but also their oracy and written work. There is a vocabulary recall test at the end of this 26 page booklet.

This would work for AQA and Edexcel English Language Paper 2 and CCEA English Language Unit 1.
