It's not an overstatement to say the French upper class before the Revolution was meddlesome and arrogant. They ridiculed the Revolutionaries with fine speech skill. When the King was over thrown, the Revolutionaries were triumphant. The nobles were silent. The outcome of the Revolution saw the Nobles killed or put away into to a lower position.
