A creative music project for Key Stage 2, to run alongside any classroom geography project about volcanoes or earthquakes.
This resource consists of:
* a medium term planning overview
* 4 easy-to-follow weekly music lesson plans
* a pupil composition planning sheet
* a teacher’s informal assessment/observation form
Musical instruments required are standard school percussion instruments (tuned and untuned), although electronic instruments (eg. keyboards) and children’s own instruments (e.g. guitars, violins, recorders etc.) can easily and successfully be integrated into this project.
Some of the other resources mentioned are youtube videos, best displayed on a Smartboard (please check with your school whether you are allowed to access youtube).
A digital audio recorder or video recorder (or mobile phone with those facilities!) is also required to record the final compositions.

Hey Fran! I love the resources, its a great idea. I want to use this in my class. As I am not in any way musical I was wondering would there be a possibility of more assistance given to how to implement it. Especially with the music terminology.
Very little detail and structure given in all four lesson plans. Composing activities provide no assistance.
