This activity pack is designed for Teachers and Parents with children in the age range of 10-11 years old (Year 6), although with support, the tasks could be completed by younger children. The activities are all based around the fictional village of Nay-Upon-Halt located in the middle of the English countryside. The activities could be used as extension tasks during a WW2 topic in school, or as challenges to be completed during school holidays by parents or teachers.
As a way of increasing independence, the Internet could be used by the children to find successful examples of the things they are asked to complete in this activity pack, as well as the history around some of the events mentioned in the tasks.
There are two activities highlighted in yellow in the Contents Page. These activities lend themselves well to group work with valuable opportunities to discuss ideas and reasoning. If this pack is to be given by a parent for use at home, or issued by a teacher for homework during school holidays, these activities provide a great opportunity for all the family to get involved and generate interesting discussion.
