Hello again. This is my first week of planning and resources to go with the White Rose Maths scheme of learning for Year 1, Summer Block 2, Fractions. It is in my usual format with flipcharts in activprimary and smartboard and there is also a PDF version too. All the other resources are in word so that you can adapt them for your children. I’ve tried to keep up the problem solving this week but I think, with adult, concrete and visual support, modelling, discussion and the small steps, they’ll work well. As always, I hope they save you some time and that your children enjoy them.
good ideas for halving a shapes but your plans do not cover teaching sharing a quantity / amount in half sufficently.<br />

Hello. Thank you for your review but I'm not sure why you think this. My 5 day plan has three days on halving shapes, including a problem solving third session, to ensure they have a deep and secure understanding of halving with shapes so they can apply it to halving quantities. There are then two focus sessions on halving quantities, two halving games and a diagnostic questions quiz on halving shapes and quantities. Have you taught it with your children yet? Did they struggle. I do hope not. I think mine will have a secure understanding of halving both shapes and quantities after this week, though I might be surprised. I'd love to know how it worked or didn't with your children.
