Y9 Holocaust Study - Reading and Tasks

10 pages of key information in chronological order, a year by year breakdown of the increasing discrimination against the Jewish people, both in Germany and beyond.

Sections include:

• Pre-war Germany
• Kristallnacht
• Ghettos
• The Final Solution, with subsections on Mobile Killing Units/Einsatzgruppen, Concentration Camps, and Death Camps (including an account from a surivor from Auschwitz)
• Liberation of the camps

Each section has 3 tasks based on the reading given, as well as a longer extended writing task and an investigative report task on a post-Holocaust genocide.

The extended writing task is 3 paragraphs on how life changed for Europe’s Jewish population over time. Each paragraph has guidance on what to include as well as a list of key terms to use in their writing.

The investigation report includes a list of what to include as well as multiple web-links to useful websites to complete the task.
