Year 1 Letters and Sounds and Weekly Spellings Long-term Plan
This document outlines a long-term plan for Letters and Sounds, streaming for 3 Phonics groups and recommended weekly spellings for each group in line with the HFWs and the sounds that have been covered each week.

The plan starts with a whole-class review and consolidation of Phase 2 in the Autumn term. Differentiated weekly spellings start in the second half of the Autumn In the Spring term, Phonics teaching is streamed into three groups and the weekly spellings continue.

I have not seen a document of this kind anywhere else so I produced it for Key Stage 1 in my school setting. It has been effective and ensured comprehensive coverage and progression of Letters and Sounds along with appropriate and useful spellings.
