Frequently asked questions about friendships (friendships can be hard work sometimes, how to stay in touch, what can I talk to my friends about, how can I invite a friend to play with me, how long can a friendship last, can I still be friends with someone when they move away, how do I keep my friends once I have made them, I’ve had a fight with my friend, what can I do to resolve the situation, my friend is sick, what can I do to help them) Addresses if you are a shy person (what you can do to make friends) Unhelpful friend behaviours (what not to do) Included is also a number of activities that can be completed independently and as part of a group or whole class activity. To support communication, visuals are included to help emphasize the key messages of the book. This is a great self-reflection workbook that can be utilized in its entirety or as separate activity worksheets. There is a total of 16 pages which encourages self reflection around the students level of anxiety level and introduces the concept of concurrent emotions (i.e.: that one emotion can exist with others). This resource primarily focuses on anxiety and worried but also explores the following emotions which exist concurrently. These include: anger, disgust, disappointment, excitement, furious, tired, scared, nervous, lonely, innocent, confused, embarrassed, happy, frustrated, worried, sad, shocked, surprised, proud, irritated. Understanding your personality traits can be really important in helping students understand who they are as well as their core beliefs and values. This resource will help students explore not only how they would describe themselves but will focus on their individual personality traits. For each personality trait students will be asked to reflect on how much that personality trait resonates with you by rating from 1-10. Additionally, students will be asked to explore why they chose that particular rating, whether they are happy with that rating or whether they would like to change that. Many people think of being happy and excited as good emotions and anger and sadness as being bad ones. Because of this, many people spend years trying to repress, block or avoid these emotions. But it is important to know that all emotions are normal. Three are no good or bad feelings or emotions. They are messages. This activity encourages emotional awareness by encouraging individuals to reflect and gain insight into their various emotional states. This resource encourages students to imagine that they are walking along the beach while they are a particular emotional state and they come across a “message in a bottle” which is just perfect for what they need and want while they are in that emotional state. This lesson has been specifically developed to support students with learning or intellectual difficulties to understand key aspects relating to: PERSONAL BODY SAFETY When you were little your parents and carers took care of you. Now that you are getting older, it can be helpful to learn about some ways that can keep you safe, such as what to do and how to ask for help. We will learn about how you can keep safe, what you can do when you feel that you are unsafe, your body’s early warning signs and also who is in your network of people that you can talk to when you do feel unsafe. This lesson has been created to include key information in a easy to read manner with visuals to support information retention. Depending on the age, developmental level and key learning needs, Teachers, Parents, School Counsellors and other Allied Health Professionals should use their insight and judgement to determine whether the information contained in this lesson is suitable and appropriate for each individual student. This lesson is built into a scaffold learning system with a total of 6 lessons. You can choose to use this lesson in isolation, however should you with to further build the knowledge around relationships and sexuality, feel free to check out the remainder of the lessons.
