Speaking cards, general questions and game La inmigración (AL2 - new AQA)

This is a new set of cards for the topic of La inmigración, for the new AQA (slightly different to the old one in content!). The cards touch upon long lasting issues such as "La fuga de cerebros" as well as more recent aspects, such as Trump's proposals to deal with illegal inmigration in the USA. The questions are followed by general questions and a game to improve improvisation and fluency (with instructions). You can also purchase the revision notes in my shop. They will be useful to prepare the cards. If you like this series, please visit my shop as I have published sets of cards, questions, games AND REVISION notes for each of the AL1 units too. PLEASE leave a review, your feedback is very important to me. Happy teaching and learning, Blanca

This compilation of cards includes sub-themes such as the exile of children during the Civil War, bringing down Franco's statues, the economic boom during Franco times, Letizia as a plebeian, etc., in one word, as much variety as possible, all within range! The general questions are followed by a selection of photographs to be used as preparation for presentations, or as a starting point for the IRP. I feel at this point of the course, students should be able to work from visual stimuli on their own! I have also published a set of revision notes to accompany the cards (if you deem it necessary). Please leave a comment if you purchase this resource. Your feedback is very helpful to me. Happy teaching and learning! Blanca

Speaking cards, general questions and statements El Ciberespacio (AQA)

This is a second instalment of stimulus cards and general questions for the preparation of the oral AQA exam (the first instalment, for Los valores tradicionales y modernos, was also published via TES ). This 15 page booklet includes a very brief description of the exam and the mark scheme for the first part of the exam. It has 8 stimulus cards with question types similar to those in the exam, general questions on the three subtopics and two pages of stretch and challenge statements that can be used for oral or written responses. I have not included a list of questions starters, which I included in the booklet on Los valores tradicionales y modernos, as I would not want you to buy the same content again. I did however think it necessary to include a brief description of the exam structure and mark scheme so that your students have a quick reference guide. I hope you like the work and it makes your teaching easier. I welcome any feedback at this site or privately at: bgp@stbrn.ac.uk. Many thanks for your support.

This is the 5th instalment of stimulus cards, questions and an exercise for improvisation in preparation for the AQA oral exam. **Please note there might be a problem seeing the preview. TES are aware of this and are trying to solve the issue.** The stimulus cards focus, amongst other subtopics, on the celebration of El Día E (Día del español); el "tapeo", regional stereotypes ("Ocho Apellidos Vascos");the waste of food in La Tomatina... This time I have put more emphasis on the students being critical and analytical, as they would have moved to the second part of the AS and they are more able to make comparisons, deductions, etc. The cards include the source so that they can not only be practiced in class but could be used for background reading prior to the preparation and practice. The general questions are self explanatory! Finally, I have included an exercise for improvisation where students have to say/write the opposite and can develop arguments as detailed as you ask them! I welcome any feedback on this resource or any of the series (they are all published in TES). Hopefully, they will make your life easier and your students will feel challenged, enjoy and learn with them. Hasta la próxima, Blanca
Al Y1 Writing Marks and Feedback Cover Sheet (AQA)

Al Y1 Writing Marks and Feedback Cover Sheet (AQA)

This is a cover sheet to return with written pieces. I have simplified it from the AQA mark scheme for the AS or first year. It corresponds to Paper 2 (Writing) in the AS Specification. It is intended to provide feedback on essays based on the book or film, but it can also be used to provide marks, feedback and set targets for any long piece of writing. For this reason I have adapted the heading in the first box to any "topic". The idea is that, from the beginning of the course, students get used to writing critical responses, different viewpoints that are explained and evidence, and focus on grammar and structure. For example, I have just used it to provide feedback on an essay on mobiles. This should have a positive impact on their speaking too.

This is the last set of revision notes for the new A Level. It is meant to be a resumé as you can imagine, since the "patrimonio" is such a vast topic. However, I hope that it give grounds for the students to prepare speaking cards, to revise vocabulary and provide some ideas for the individual research project. I will also be publishing revision notes for the second year of the A Level, so please visit my shop again. And if you have missed it, I have an invaluable collection of speaking cards mirrowing the exam. These are also available in TES as cheap as £2 per unit or purchased for the year at £10. If you enjoy my resources, please encourage your colleagues to support me. Many thanks for all your comments. Happy teaching and learning. Blanca.

Here is the fifth instalment of revision notes for you and for your students! They are quite comprehensive but I enclose the word version if you want to cut/adapt, etc. These notes can be used to prepare speaking cards (plenty of information on cultural aspects plus opinions on such topics as bullfighting and the regional languages), for revision before mocks, for end of unit revision, etc. I hope you find them useful and your students too. Please visit my shop to buy more revision notes and the infamous speaking cards (they are selling like hot cakes!). The prices of my resources are deliberately low so that they don't dig a hole in your pocket! Thanks for supporting my work. Any comments are welcome to this site or to:bgp@stbrn.ac.uk. Happy teaching and learning. Blanca

Translation from English into Spanish on this theme. The translation adds up to key points useful for revision/essay writing. I made this resource with the help of the Hodder publication on the film (an excellent film guide, by the way!). Happy teaching and learning, Blanca.

A collection of exam style short activities to accompany the video “España inicios siglo XX”, available in youtube. The exercises are varied: T/F/NM; multiple choice; translation, etc. The worksheet include the transcript. A second worksheet includes the answers to the exercises. This activity is ideal to introduce the play “La casa de Bernarda Alba” but also as a listening/reading activity for the topic of “Monarquías and Dictaduras”. I hope it is useful. Please leave a review. Gracias.

A fun translation activity based on a revision task in the AQA book p. 104, at the end of the topic La identidad Regional. The task revises numbers, the subjunctive, vocabulary and accents. You can do it as a competitive speaking activity, followed by the same exercise in writing. … For more free resources, please browse my shop. I also have paid resources at very competitive prices.

IRP: Guide and template

Student guide for the IRP, as well as template for students to complete their work. The guide summarises the exam and how to prepare for it step by step. I t contains a list of sample IRP titles, introduction and note taking. … AND it has lists of expressions, connectives, etc that ensure students use the right language to score points. At the end of the guide there is also a list of generic questions to practice, which my students have used to no end! The template allows students to organise their note taking and analysis, so that the teacher can check progress and guide them. It also has cues on what to say in the introduction, based on past performances that scored top grades. My students do their work in a folder that they share with me and with other students. Their work is always safe and available. I bet you won’t be disappointed with what is for sale here. If you are, let me know!
