This set of lesson plans, resources, and activities is for use with A Chair for My Mother, Fly Away Home, Peppe the Lamplighter, and The Rainbow Fish. These resources can be used for whole group, small group, and independent instruction – which makes these them a smart choice for literacy centers or Reader’s Workshop. Each lesson plan follows the format of a mini lesson and provides an opportunity for students to turn and talk about how they make inferences while reading. Students will also have the opportunity to practice the strategy with a page by page guided “worksheet” and write about their reading with a common core aligned Reader’s notebook prompt.
