I have produced a full range of theory lessons to support the AQA design technology GCSE 9-1. There are 40 lessons that are taught one a week throughout Y10 (listed below). Each lesson has learning objectives, starter/bell task, content (GIF’s used to support learning), plenary and summary slides in PowerPoint. I have also included a fully supported student handout which includes homework questions and summative assessment section. As well as theory lessons I have uploaded projects that are delivered alongside these theory topics. Please check these out in my shop along with tracker sheets and learning journeys for a complete package. 1 Properties 2 Metals 3 Woods and Boards 4 Seasoning and Conversion 5 Cutting 6 Drilling 7 Polymers 8 Composites 9 Papers and Boards 10 Orthographic Drawing 11 Isometric/Perspective 12 Types of Movement 13 Levers 14 Linkages and Cams 15 Gear Trains 16 Pulleys and Belts 17 Programmable Systems 1 18 Programmable Systems 2 19 Programmable Systems 3 20 Textiles 21 Marcel Breuer 22 Philippe Starck 23 Stock Forms 24 Chiselling, Planing, Turning 25 Flat Pack Furniture, 26 Wood Finishes 27 Quality Manufacture 28 Commercial Routing and Turning 29 Scales of Production 30 Smart, Modern Materials 31 Design Strategies 32 Dyson - Prototype Development 33 Apple - Recycling and Disassembly 34 Industry 35 Enterprise 36 Production Techniques 37 Design Decisions 38 Sustainability 39 Energy Generation and Storage 40 Exam Preparation

New AQA DT 9-1 NEA Tracker Sheet

I have created a spreadsheet that can be used to track pupils progress through the AQA NEA project. All you need to do it is insert students names and target grades. Once a score for each section is added it will automatically calculate a score then (using the look up sheet) insert an equivalent level and RAG rate appropriately. Please note that the grade boundaries can be easily changed on the look up sheet. I also predict scores for each section based on prior performance e.g. if they achieve 8/10 for section 1 I will assume they will perform similarly on subsequent sections so i will give them 8/10 for section 2 and 16/20 for section 3 and so on. , this makes it quick and easy to see expected outcomes. I find this very helpful to motivate students.

Series of 9 lessons that deliver training for the examined Unit 3 as part of the new BTEC Tech Award Engineering. The lessons cover quality control, evaluating products and redesigning. They are designed to give students the skills required to complete the Examination they will sit. Part of the lessons focus on measuring the quality of a set of 10 Aluminium draw rollers I made, this could be easily changed. Includes teaching PowerPoint, Student Booklet, Lesson Plans and Learning Objectives/Starters/Plenaries. Please also see my other lessons that support this qualification, I have the whole course uploaded onto my shop.

Designed to be taught as part of the new V Cert NCFE Engineering qualification. I have created a series of theory lessons that can be taught alongside the practical projects I have uploaded here. There are 3 theory booklets in total containing up to 10 theory topics in each. Lesson PowerPoints include retrieval tasks, lesson objectives and fully embedded GIF animations (6 second looped video clips) demonstrating the content. Theory handout includes structured comprehension questions and an extension task. Please check out my other resources for the new V Cert NCFE Engineering course, including 6 other practical projects, a nowiknow learning log and theory lesson bundles. All supporting files if not uploaded can be emailed directly, please just ask.

Wind / Weather Vane Project / Aluminium / Mild Steel

This is a 20 lesson project design to introduce students to the main manufacturing techniques used in metal. Students are required to design, mark out, cut, file and polish an aluminium vane before using the lathe to turn a post for it to be mounted to. A direction arm will be screw threaded then brazed into place before drilling and welding a base in place. Job cards are used to develop students ability to read and interpret manufacturing spec drawings and begin to work with independance. PowerPoint has embedded gifs to show students main manufacturing techniques. Please check out my theory lessons that run along this project.

Bit Stop Bedside Storage. This project will give you a sound understanding of some of the main manufacturing techniques used in industry in order to batch produce products using jigs, templates and formers. Previously gained experience in woods, metals and polymers will also be developed. CNC machining will be introduced in order to create a personalised finished product. This is a 9 lesson project, please see my theory lessons that support this project.

I bulk print these at the start of the year, every time a pupil is absent one is stuck on the work they have missed. it is then very clear to see what has been missed and what work needs to be completed.
