Complete 10 lesson project that guide students step by step to create an adjustable hard wood desk lamp. Delivers a range of manufacturing skills across a range of materials to build skills and exposure. We deliver this as a training project to our Y12 DT students but could easily be delivered lower down the school with support. Materials include aluminium, hardwood, polystyrene. Main Manufacturing techniques include marking out, mortise cutting, metal lathe turning, vacuum forming.
The complete plan for delivery of the AQA DT 9-1 GCSE. Contains intent statements, marking policy and overviews, as well as structured breakdown of the course into Y10 training projects and associated theory topics and Y11 NEA. This document supports the other resources I have uploaded here. Please see my shop for all related projects and theory lessons.
This project will give students an introduction to polymers, how they can be shaped through vacuum forming and formed using the sander, drill and countersink. You will also develop a solid working understanding of 2D Design in order to create an orthographic drawing. Manual isometric sketching will be developed with the use of traditional drawing equipment.
Please check out my other resocurces.
I am unable to attach the 2D Design files, please email me and will send directly.
Complete starter pack for delivery of the AQA NEA. Included is a launch lesson which is slightly Graphics biased but can be easily modified to your own requirements, a complete set of lesson plans and student template to guide them through the delivery. A set of starter tasks that can be used to refresh theory knowledge during the NEA and a tracker sheet to allow pupils to recieve feedback and improve their work.
Bit Stop Bedside Storage. This project will give you a sound understanding of some of the main manufacturing techniques used in industry in order to batch produce products using jigs, templates and formers. Previously gained experience in woods, metals and polymers will also be developed. CNC machining will be introduced in order to create a personalised finished product.
This is a 9 lesson project, please see my theory lessons that support this project.
This project is a short 5 lesson introduction to metal turning and screw threading. Students are required to carry out some anthropometric reasearch and produce a prototype, before manufacturing it a metal lathe.
This is a 20 lesson project design to introduce students to the main manufacturing techniques used in metal. Students are required to design, mark out, cut, file and polish an aluminium vane before using the lathe to turn a post for it to be mounted to. A direction arm will be screw threaded then brazed into place before drilling and welding a base in place.
Job cards are used to develop students ability to read and interpret manufacturing spec drawings and begin to work with independance. PowerPoint has embedded gifs to show students main manufacturing techniques.
Please check out my theory lessons that run along this project.
A set of front covers for the theory lessons that I have generated to deliver the content of the AQA DT 9-1 GCSE. There are 4 in total and they are to be used in conjunction with the theory lessons I have uploaded here.
They include space for students to record their performance and log any DIRT work that has been carried out.
I have produced a full range of theory lessons to support the AQA design technology GCSE 9-1. There are 40 lessons that are taught one a week throughout Y10 (listed below).
Each lesson has learning objectives, starter/bell task, content (GIF’s used to support learning), plenary and summary slides in PowerPoint. I have also included a fully supported student handout which includes homework questions and summative assessment section.
As well as theory lessons I have uploaded projects that are delivered alongside these theory topics. Please check these out in my shop along with tracker sheets and learning journeys for a complete package.
