In preparation for the new materials technology award I've created a skill evidence guide to enable students to understand what evidence they need to include for each skill in unit one. The evidence guide also includes a skill tracker across the four projects. This is an updated version with the changes to the specification.

This is an updated version. I have created this guide so my students know exactly what to record to get marks for the 12 skills in unit 1. Each page gives a breakdown of what they need to do to record each skill and I have also included the assessment criteria from the exam board for each skill. Along with an overview sheet at the end of the booklet. The booklet provides space for teacher, self and peer assessment.

The thinking hats with coloured hat fashion illustrations to match the hat.

My students loved these visual sheets to help with colour/design selection in practicals and creating imaginative designs. I printed them on A3 double-sided. With one side the coloured images and the other side with either the line drawings or the colour palettes. Used in lesson observations and was complimented on the quality of the resource.

This lesson works towards covering some of the skills assessment criteria in for the new materials technology technical award from AQA including: Casting and Moulding. Quality Production. AQA Materials Technical Award Evidencing Practical Skills Lesson. I use this lesson for students to record the skills they have completed in the practical lessons. This is for the new Materials Technical award from AQA. You can also find an example of how I would expect students to lay this out on in my TES shop.

This is the power point I am currently using for the new Materials Technical Award from AQA. It included assessment criteria and a modelled example of how students can use the practical log book that I have created, which can also be found on my TES shop. I recently had a formal observation with this lesson and did really well.

I have created this log book to be used with the practical lesson power point. Its has all the assessment criteria for each skill log for unit 1of the new materials technology technical award. In addition to this it has lesson log for the students to record what they have done each lesson.

This is an example of what I would expect a skill portfolio to look like for the new AQA Materials Technical Award. It is skeletal but gave my students an idea of what it should look like.
