A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that introduce students to the context surrounding Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. We look at ideas about the American Dream, and how the Great Depression impacted on American society after the Roaring Twenties. Additionally, we look at how Steinbeck introduces setting and character at the start of the novel and how these are linked to the idea of the American Dream. Designed for Literature students but easily adaptable for younger ages.
A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that focuses on the Inspector’s last speech in An Inspector Calls and how the Birlings initially react to his leaving the play. We analyse the use of language in the Inspector’s speech and explore the emotions and thoughts of the different characters one Goole leaves. An ideal lesson for KS4 students prepare for English Literature exams and easily adaptable for KS3. Worth a download!

Looking at the structure of part of a famous Barack Obama speech, students consider how the former President links the past to the present and creates a link between time and hope. A really detailed lesson that includes differentiated activities throughout and supports students to reflect on structure and create their own short speeches using crafted links between themes in order to affect an audience.
