We look at Carol Ann Duffy’s Mrs Midas from The World’s Wife and reflect on how the titular character thinks and feels about the consequences of her husband’s decision. The lesson includes differentiated activities throughout, and clear and engaging activities to support students as they get to grips with the use of language in the poem to affect the reader’s interpretation of character and theme. This has been designed so students can work together during a pre-exam breakfast session in preparation for the AQA English Literature Paper 2 exam, but it’s useful for any exam board or any year group revising unseen poetry. Definitely worth a download before the big exam.

Romeo and Juliet lesson on her death and the apothecary. A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that focuses on a number of key scenes from William Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet. We look at Act 4 Scene 3 as Juliet takes the vial of liquid given to her by the Friar. Additionally, we see how Romeo reacts as Balthasar tells him the news that Juliet is dead and we look at Act 5 Scene 1 as Romeo visits the apothecary to purchase poison. We analyse the use of language in these scenes and explain their impact on the audience. Definitely worth a download!
