This is a BUNDLE of popular hands-on sentence ordering Key Stage 1 Writing resources. It contains 3 different full class sets or reusable simple sentence construction activities and is great for differentiation. The jumbled sentences sets now also come with additional worksheet versions of all 90 boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (Primary 2 in Scotland) SPaG / Grammar lessons, these activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (Primary 1) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability.
Emergent writers love lifting the words off the boards to unscramble them to find the hidden simple sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, these word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resources suit a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the sentence out on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice with scrambled sentences should help children begin to form sentences independently.
There are 3 x 65-page PDF documents in Zip files, together with additional editable Word documents of the word cards only, in case you wish to change the font or colour of the words.
Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help children identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop (or question mark) to pick up and place at the end of their sentence. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and about the fact that a sentence must make sense on its own.
This bundle contains:
A set of 30 4-5 word sentence boards
A set of 30 6-8 word sentence boards
A set of 30 question sentence boards
Worksheet versions of all 90 boards (for use without the word cards)
An answer key for all 3 sets, listing the correctly rearranged sentences for your convenience
Teacher notes / instructions
Please see the individual resources for detailed previews. If you decide to buy them I hope your children have a lot of fun using them and if you can spare a moment to review them, I would be very grateful.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Print in colour on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each session. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a smaller group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring support with writing.
Words are printed in faint grey on each sheet in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this faint type, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is in a different colour to help identify the board it is from. Train the children to replace the words to these starting positions and to wipe boards before putting them back. Good quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens will help with this!

An engaging alternative to worksheets, these no prep puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities. They can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. These puzzles are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a decimals, fractions or percentages calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. On some puzzles there is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word.
Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.

GAMES:
2 Four in a Row game boards to print and laminate. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - wins. Students roll dice, then choose a pets word from that number column to say in French. If correct, use a dry-wipe marker to put a symbol or initial in that box.
‘I have…Who has?’ Cards / Loop Game: consolidate pets vocabulary in phrases alongside some numbers. Print and laminate the 30 illustrated cards, which form a continuous loop so you can start with any one. Distribute among players. First player reads the French side of one of their cards and all players check if they have the matching number of the correct animal. If they do, they reply in French, saying ‘J’ai…’ (I have…) and so on.
Active Oral Game - 36 game cards (18 identical pairs). Students are given a card each and move around to find the player with the matching card by asking and answering questions about pets. 2 versions: the first set has French prompts for lower ability or younger students and the other set has words in English only. If required, use a mixture of the two sets for differentiation.
Bingo / Noughts and Crosses (Tic Tac Toe): 8 cards for a group game of Bingo (the teacher or a student could read out words) or Noughts and Crosses (students take it in turns to say aloud a French pets word from their card). If cards are laminated, students could write on them with a dry-wipe marker.

Target particular children, perhaps SEN / ASN, who require extra support but useful for middle and higher ability too
MORE INFO:
Creative Writing Story Prompts: 20 A4 cards with a a picture / photo, word bank, starter sentence and questions to stimulate a story. Students could choose one to spark a full piece of imaginative writing, just a paragraph or two or perhaps a description.
Improving Sentences Worksheets: 40 sentence uplevelling trails at 2 levels to support students in writing more ambitious, complex sentences. Print as worksheets or laminate for regular use (with dry-wipe pens). Worked examples of extended sentences included.
Full Stops and Capital Letters Cards: 40 differentiated cards with an unpunctuated paragraph on one side and corrections on the other. They support students working out where sentences begin and end, to avoid fragments and run on sentences - a skill that often needs regular practice, even in Upper KS2. They are a great stepping stone to students more independently checking and editing their own writing. Instead of printing, display a card on screen for whole class completion. Answer versions can be shown on screen too for self- or peer-marking.

Fun fast finisher activities and starter tasks! Designed for Upper KS2 Year 5 and Year 6 (Y5 and Y6), this is a BUNDLE of printable, well-differentiated Four in a Row Game Boards for starters, warm ups and early finisher activities in Maths / Numeracy lessons. Great for revision or consolidation of new concepts. Includes games for Area, Money, Doubles and Halves, Times Tables and Decimal Numbers (Place Value). In Scotland, suits Second Level Maths - Primary 6 and 7.
Expand your bank of Key Stage 2 games with this great value BUNDLE of easy-to-prepare, fun and strategic 4-in-a-rows. Most just require printing and laminating. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 would be okay too. You might need to quickly adjust printer settings with some of the files. Laminate games to use again and again, with children writing on the boards with a dry-wipe marker / whiteboard pen.
INSTRUCTIONS: Two children (or two pairs of children) take it in turns to write an answer in a box. Ideally they use a different colour whiteboard pen, however if this is not possible they could add an initial or symbol each time too. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. The games work especially well if students roll a dice to determine which column they should answer a question from. The columns are numbered 1-6. If the column is already completed, they could either miss a go or roll again.
You can find previews and more information about each resource that is included in this bundle if you click on them but here are some details:
CHANGE FOR £20
2 standard game boards and 2 lower ability boards. Children roll dice to find out which column they can do a calculation in and then must work out the change required for £20 for one of the items pictured and priced in that column. Children write on the change using different colour whiteboard pens or add their initials. All answers included.
DOUBLES AND HALVES
10 boards to consolidate doubling and halving of two and three digit numbers. Includes a one-star version of both the doubling and halving game for younger or lower ability pupils - sidebars are included, featuring all answers, which children can strike through when used. It’s also included without the answer sidebars in case your pupils don’t need this added support. This version focuses on lower 2-digit numbers and multiples of 10. Then there’s four different, more challenging versions of both the doubling and halving boards (two and three-star versions). All answers included. Play as the money game above.
AREA
3 differentiated boards: One-star version - area of rectangles, squares and right-angled triangles. No conversion required. Two-star version – as above but with more challenging calculations. Some conversion required between centimetres, metres etc. Includes decimal lengths and breadths. Three-star version - area of rectangles, squares, right-angled triangles and compound shapes. Some conversion required. Includes decimal lengths and breadths and more challenging calculations. Some of the compound shapes require children to work out the length of a side, using other given sides, before they can work out the area. Children will be able to do some of the calculations mentally but could use paper or mini whiteboards to work out the more challenging ones before writing in the answer on the grid.
TIMES TABLES
4 Times Table Boards in colour and black and white versions. All 4 available in LA supported versions (with answer sideboards), standard version (2-9 times tables) and in a version with 11 and 12 times tables added. Use whiteboard pens as in the games above.
DECIMAL PLACE VALUE
Consolidate place value to 2 or 3 decimal places. 2 differentiated boards: The 1 star board was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. For use with this game are two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places).
I hope these resources save you time and help your students learn in a fun way. Thank you so much if you are able to spare the time to review them on TES.

KS2 Year 5 and Year 6 differentiated Maths warm up activities for the whole class! Printable mental maths scavenger or treasure hunt style games, with differentiation, ideal as whole class active starters or plenaries, especially in Y5 and Y6, to get students moving and working collaboratively. There are 6 hunt / relay race sets in this great value BUNDLE, each focusing on a different concept:
1. Adding and Subtracting Decimals
2. Dividing with Multiples of 10, 100, 1000
3. Multiplying 3 Numbers
4. Number Bonds to 100 / Making 100
5. Fractions of Quantities / Amounts
6. Percentages of Quantities / Amounts
Each game can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. In each game there are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions for teacher and students is included, along with solutions.
Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back.
Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! One possible answer for each of the target challenges is printed on the solution cards.
