Ideal to use at the end of a SOW or to set as a cover lesson.

Simple but effective lesson. Students practise using a combination of simple, compound and complex sentences within descriptive paragraphs using the power and conflict poems as inspiration for their writing. Students then review their paragraph by exploring the impact of each sentence type. To develop their paragraph further, students can add a wider variety of punctuation by responding to the 3 prompts.

A lesson aimed at low ability boys which uses the topic of Tyson Fury to teach the skills required for Language Paper 2 Question 4. Rather than use a 19th century text, I chose to use two 21st century texts to provoke the comparison to help build the comparative skills required for this question… Students read two articles about Fury. One was written in 2020 and one in 2015 when Fury was a more controversial figure. They then find quotations and follow a writing frame to compare the writers’ viewpoints about Fury in the two texts. There is also an example grade 6 paragraph to help guide students. I have also added a similar task looking at two contrasting articles about Peppa Pig. This works well with introducing KS3 students to the style of question they will encounter at KS4.

A 12 page help guide for GCSE music students to guide then through composing a theme and variation piece. This focusses on how to develop the melody, texture, rhythm, metre and harmony. Musical examples are given for each musical development method.

This lesson was inspired by the AQA 2018 English Language Paper 1 Question 5. Students were asked to describe the face of an old man. To help students improve their description, I have created a bank of 275 words that students can use to add precision to their descriptions.

60 quotations from Animal Farm each with a brief explanation on one helpful sheet. This resource is very adaptable. It can be used to memorise quotations and explanations or to support exam-style answers on characters or themes. Includes a pdf version and an editable version. Also includes a blank version without the explanations which you can use to help test students on whether they can explain the quotations. Also includes a test on the 30 quotations to get students to actively engage with the revision grid.

A Grade 7 exemplar response to the following AQA 2017 exam question on Animal Farm. How does Orwell use the character of Snowball to present ideas about leadership? (34 marks) The essay is colour-coded so that students can see the different sections of an analytical paragraph. The essay was written for a low/mid ability class to show them how to use a writing frame.
