This comprehension is all about Valentine's Day. It is not differentiated this time but three pages long with 13 questions which could be answered in mixed ability partners. It is NOT based on an information text but rather on three text message exchanges of which there are mobile phone screenshots on there.
1) One between mummy and child wishing Happy Valentine's and saying I love you and the child thanking mummy for all she does. The questions are some retrieval and some higher order thinking questions.
2) One exchange between two best friends, one of them saying she feels lonely and depressed for not having a Valentine. The other friend cheers her up saying it's about having loving people and they swear by 'best friends forever'.
We again have some retrieval question and some higher level thinking questions. There i also one about the convention of putting 'xxx' at the end of messages.
3. A message exchange between husband and wife wishing each other happy Valentine's. Husband says he has a surprise, the wife should have a vase at the ready and not eat too much during the day so she is hungry tonight. Children have to use inference to work out what the surprise is and there is a language based question as well.
So the whole comprehension covers a lot of skill, hence it is thought for mixed ability pairs - recommended for KS2.

This is a comprehension to use in English to jazz up your lessons when approaching Christmas.
I would recommend it for (a high) year 2 and higher.

These differentiated maths sheets are about on bar charts: Children read the table of how many treats children got from trick or treating and make a bar chart of it plus they answer questions about it. It is differentiated into bar charts that go up in 1s, 2s and 5s. It is further differentiated for each (1s, 2s or 5s) - one is more scaffolded and the bar chart has been prepared, the other needs children to label their own bar chart.
Furthermore the same activity again but with a blank table for children to investigate trick or treating in their own class and create a car chart from there.
ADDING SEVERAL NUMBERS
Here are 6 differentiated worksheets (2 pages each) that I made for my class to relate maths learning to Halloweend.
On each sheet, the letters of the alphabet are printed at the top and each letter has a value. Children then have to work out the total of several Halloween words printed on the sheet.
1. There are three sheets designed for applying mental strategies to work out name scores:
-WALT add using mental strategies: Adding single-digit numbers using basic number bonds.
- WALT add using mental strategies: Adding several multiples of 10.
- WALT add using mental strategies: Adding several multiples of 100.
2. There are three more differentiated sheets, where children can apply the column method or a calculator for addition to work out the score of each name:
- WALT add several two-digit numbers (each individual number below 30).
- WALT add several two-digit numbers (each individual number below 50).

The children then work out their own word's score and compare them to the other words :) Can easily be edited for your own classes.

Here are 5 worksheets for finding all possibilities problem solving lessons. I could not categorise this resource on here properly as 'Using and Applying' or 'Problem Solving' are not on the TES system.
Most of these resources are differentiated 2 ways but I found it worked best to do them in partners and discuss as class etc. It's good to do those over a few weeks as some are similar and reinforce learning points such as using a system/logical way of working eg always starting with same colour...
Tower building challenge:
Use 4 differently coloured blocks - in which order can you arrange the blocks? How many ways are there? Notebook File attached.
Ice Cream challenge:
Use 4 different ice cream flavours - in which order can you arrange them on the cone? How many ways are there? (A 3 scoop version available too)
Design a flag challenge:
Use 3 or 4 different colours- in which order can you arrange them on flags? How many ways are there?
Mini beast hunt:
3 different kinds of minibeasts were found, 10 or 20 altogether. What are the different options?
Chinese New Year Race Challenge:
3 (or 4) more animals turn up for the race of the zodiac. They missed it and have their own race. In which order could they finish?
This is an activity which I would suggest to use in KS1 as a first week activity when coming back to school in September.
SHEET ONE
There are four empty polaroids for children to draw in and lines beside them to describe their holiday/write a sentence. It is differentiated by scaffolding and outcome. Some children are more able to write about what happened without any guidance whereas others might need more structure eg first polaroid is 'who I saw', second polaroid is about 'games I played'... etc and soe others might just need to draw/label/talk about their holidays so there are different sheets for different groups.
It works best copied and blown up to A3.
SHEET TWO.
Same as sheet one except for this time round all polaroids are selfies - phone/iPad outline.
It is also a nice thing to display in your classroom in those first few weeks when topics have not yet started etc.

I created this for my KS1 team as displays for their classrooms. It explains all terminology that children (and teachers) need to be able to know and use in English in year 1 and year 2 according to the New Curriculum in child speak. Hope you find it useful.
Great ice-breaker for the first day of teaching to get to know the children, help them to get to know each other and most importantly, help them get to know the teacher! It contains picture clues for ESL children. Children ask around in class and find someone who likes something that is pictured. If they find someone they put his/her name down on the grid. First one to have 4 in a row wins.
I always have a vote on the last day of term to elect the hardest worker, kindest person, funniest person and more... and each child is allowed to vote for who they think the award should go to and they can write down the 3 people that fit best into each category. They love it! I print/write the class name and date on there, sign it, laminate the certificates and set them up at the front of the classroom when they come in on their last day. I also buy the cheap plastic trophies from Sainsbury's, and stick the attached little labels on them before they go out.
I also make a year book with them a week before we break up, which I get them to fill in and then copy for the whole class. It's a lot of fun and a nice keepsake for them and their parents. Enjoy!

1. Comparing two flags. Children choose two flags, draw them and compare them - what is the same and what is different.
2. Sorting the flags into symmetrical and non-symmetrical flags.
3. A blank Venn diagram for children to make up their own categories to sort the flags into (if you want to differentiate you could give them the categories). For best outcome blow up to A3.
4. A blank Carroll diagram for children to make up their own categories to sort the shapes into (if you want to differentiate you could give them the categories). For best outcome blow up to A3.

Questions include simple retrieval such as How many people like? What is the most/least popular item as well as adding up totals (How many people like ... and ...?) and finding the difference questions such as How many more people liked ... than ...
Each group has 2 or 3 sheets.
It is differentiated for the lowest group as well and includes a mastery style question for the high ability.
