Students spend the first part of this two part lesson looking at the causes of flooding and then make decisions based on their learning as to what is the greatest cause of flooding. This resource can be used for students to gain an understanding about how the coast is impacted by storm surges and rock type. Students have the opportunity to look at OS maps and apply them to their understanding of the coast. Students need to make links between a variety of geographical resources in order to prepare to answer the examination question embedded into the lesson to test retention.

This lesson covers 2-3 lessons regarding the way in which different coastlines are eroded as a result of geology of the cliffs and slopes. Students compare two coastlines and identify factors responsible. In addition this then goes on to show the formation of spits and the process of LSD as well as sand dunes. All activities are included to print and are stand alone without the need for a text book. These lessons fit in with the other coasts lessons for landforms and processes.

This lesson compromises of students learning about coastal erosion through a mix and match activity, comparing and contrasting constructive and deconstructive waves and then applying this to landform formation and examination questions with peer and self assessment.

This is a learning booklet that can be used as cover or as a homework booklet to accompany the physical units or Paper 1 for Geography AQA. This booklet was designed specifically for students that had missed large sections of the course or for students to complete for homework to mirror the lesson. It was mapped against AQA A Geography scheme of work.

Students have the opportunity to understand more about the population of China and population pyramids.
