Spanish-speaking countries Los países hispanohablantes presentation & quiz an instant and comprehensive introduction to 21 countries where Spanish is an official language, which really help my students develop their awareness of the Spanish-speaking world: countries, their location and capital cities and flags.
There are 21 countries featured in the quiz. Each country is presented individually on a world map, so that students can see exactly where in the world it lies: this immediately gives a geographical context for students, whose knowledge of world geography may not encompass the Spanish-speaking or wider world. I also use this part of the presentation to work on pronunciation, encouraging students to repeat and read aloud with me - this really does help with memory too.
There are 186 slides in the resource, which is non-editable for copyright reasons.
Presentation Slides 1-22: title slide, followed by 21 slides showing the location on a world map of each of the 21 countries where Spanish is an official language. Each slide has the title ¿Dónde está…?
Presentation Slides 23-43: have the title ***Aquí se habla español ***and shows the flag, country and capital city of the individual countries
Question Slides 1-20: showing a flag, and asking for example ***¿Chile o Costa Rica?***, followed by an answer slide, with the country and its capital city.
Question Slides 21-40: also showing a flag, asking ***¿Dónde estoy?***, followed by an answer slide, with its country and capital city.
Question Slides 41-50: showing 2 flags, with the questions for example ***¿Chile A o B?***, followed by an answer slide, with both countries and capital cities.
Question Slides 51-60: showing a flag, asking ***¿Cuál es la capital de…?***, followed by an answer slide
Question Slides 61-70: ¿… es la capital de… ? prompting with the capital city, with the answer slide showing both the country and the flag

24 countries where Spanish is an official language, or where a significant number of the population speak Spanish as their first or home language (USA, Andorra, Gibraltar). Each banner features the country, capital city and national flag, in Spanish. The bunting provides an instant introduction to the Spanish-speaking world. They’re also great for reading, speaking and pronunciation prompts too.
I often ask ‘quick questions’ such as ***¿Cuál es la capital de…?***, or ¿Sí o no? Madrid es la capital de Paraguay? - there are lots of questioning and speaking opportunities, using the banners as visual prompts. Speaking does tend to be quite a challenging skill, particularly for beginner learners, so getting the most from classroom decor to encourage students to speak is really important - they’re a great tool for encouraging students to speak, and to construct sentences, from the very beginning of their Spanish learning. I’ve also found that there can be several countries that students don’t actually know, or have never heard of, and the posters are really useful for helping them develop their general understanding and knowledge of both the Spanish-speaking and wider world.
Each banner has a small tag to clip onto a line across the classroom. Laminate the banners if you can, as they hang really well and remain in great condition for years.

BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH ADVANCED SPANISH SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES FLAGS LABEL & COLOR
THIS RESOURCE IS CURRENTLY BEING REVISED AND UPDATED - PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON
Spanish-speaking countries, capital cities and flags label and color worksheets provide great learning opportunities for any appropriate age group, at any time of the school year, and are definitely the perfect activity for consolidating knowledge of these countries and flags - students definitely really enjoy testing their memory and recreating the flags in color.
Students can develop their Spanish language skills, as well as their knowledge of both the Spanish-speaking and wider world, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 21 countries where Spanish is an official language, and I’ve also included three countries where Spanish is very widely spoken: Gibraltar, Andorra and the USA. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the games help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Los países hispanohablantes.
There is a country, capital city and flag reference list of all countries and capitals, which students find useful to read through before working on the sheets - I laminate these, because they last for years - one list per small group of 5-6 students is sufficient. It can also be used as a year-round reference resource, which students can file in their workbooks or learning folders.
There are four sets of worksheets, each with two pages:
Set 1: color flags, students label with country and capital city
Set 2: blank flags, students label country and capital city, and color the flags
Set 3: blank flags, country is given, students label capital city, and color the flags
Set 4: blank flags, capital city is given, students label country, and color the flags

Ideal for cross-curricular learning French and geography featuring 41 countries / territories where French is an official language as well as regions and territories where a significant number of the population speak French as either their first or second language, such as Vietnam. Each word wall card shows the country and capital city in French, and its national flag.
There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the word wall definitely helps them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of the French-speaking world. This means we can really make the most of the learning potential of classroom decor. I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too.
I use the word wall to get students talking in French class too during Talk Time for example - quick questions such as Vrai ou faux ? Québec est la capitale du Canada ? or Libreville est la capitale de quel pays ? are really useful to encouraging students to speak in French.
There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format, with two design formats to choose from - French flag or plain. Laminate the cards if you can, as they display really nicely, and remain in excellent condition for years.

French-speaking countries, capital cities and flags game cards provide great cross-curricular learning opportunities for any appropriate age group, at any time of the school year. Students can develop their language skills, as well as their knowledge of both the French-speaking and wider world, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher.
The set features 41 countries / territories where French is an official language, with each picture card showing the continent and national flag, and the corresponding text card detailing continent, country and capital city. There is a set of detachable continent, country and capital city labels. Labelling is a really successful and popular learning activity.
There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the games help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones. I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too.
There is a country, capital city and flag reference list of all countries and capital cities, including the continent on which each is located. Students find it useful to read this through before playing I generally allow them only 60 seconds on a timer to really focus their reading and increase the sense of competition if we are playing competitive team games. I’ve described a range of popular games and activities in the product pack.
The list can also be used as a year-round reference resource, which students can file in their workbooks or learning files. Laminate the cards and reference sheets if you can - it’s really worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. I generally work with telling time in Italian quite quickly with my beginner Italian students, as it lends itself really well to promoting speaking in Italian class, discussing daily routines for example.
There are two questions: Che ora è? (1 o’clock, 5 past one etc) / Che ore sono? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. The second question is Vero o falso? and students write either vero or falso - where the answer is falso, remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation.

Ideal for the European Day of Languages - an instant and comprehensive introduction to Europe , perfect for developing knowledge of European countries, capital cities and national flags.
This kind of classroom display provides a real learning opportunity during September, in the run-up to, and on the European Day of Languages. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters help students develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Europe. It’s useful to show students a clear map of Europe, so that they can visualise the location of each country and capital city, not only as an individual location with ***Europ***e, but also as a location in relation to other European countries and capital cities.
There is a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, and also some countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to Europe or to Asia. Some countries have two posters, such as Greece, officially known as the Hellenic Republic - you can choose either the more frequently-used Greece or the Hellenic Republic to display.
This is the European Day of Languages edition of our Geography Europe posters: please ensure you have not already purchased that set.
There are two formats to choose from - Europe map background or plain without frame, which keeps prep costs at a minimum. Laminate if you can, even though it’s extra prep time and expense. The posters display better, as flashcards they’re a lot easier to manipulate, and they do remain in excellent condition for years, so you’ll be able to recycle them many times.

Mots cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This mini-bundle features two sets of 10 differentiated word searches & answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge.
The focus is on key beginner French vocabulary:
= les nombres en français zéro à dix : French numbers 0-10
= les nombres en français zéro à vingt : French numbers 0-20
In each set, there are 5 French to French grids, where students are prompted with French words, and look for them in French in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test.
There are also 5 English to French grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and students have to find the French equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in French, they also complete the French word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid.
There is an answer key for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. The word searches are in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right in English, facilitating learner engagement with the word searches.
Answer keys are an essential and integral element of the learning activity: they provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, also helping them develop more independence in their learning. They genuinely enjoy correcting their own - and especially each others’ work - and they’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing!
Use for cover lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when you’re introducing this particular target language in French.
Try this French Fruits Word Searches freebie - the format is the same as these word searches, and you can see whether they will work for your learners:

Ideal for Primary French Immersion and beginner French students of all ages and stages, providing them with a great opportunity to engage with the written word in French, at the same time developing essential beginner French vocabulary. They are easily differentiated too: the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. I’ve indicated the direction the words are located in the grid with arrows.
There are 5 French to French grids, with an additional number vocabulary list to complete for extra spelling practice. I always create English to French grids too - that’s an effective way of consolidating vocabulary, and there’s a vocabulary list to complete too.
All the grids have a corresponding answer key, which are essential in order to maximise the learning potential of the activity. They facilitate learner independence, also giving them an additional opportunity to engage with the target language - they also genuinely enjoy assessing their own, and each others’ work. This set is in landscape format, as in my experience young beginner French students, as well as older beginner French students, really benefit from a larger font, and having the language presented in the common direction of reading in both English and French, left to right.
The word searches are really versatile, and I use them in lots of different contexts, such as starter and refresher activities, fun-time fillers, sub lessons, or free-choice activity at any time during the school year.

Games with goals: these French fruits bingo games for young beginner French learners. This set features 12 fruits in masculine, feminine, singular and plural forms. The games are ideal for developing listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling skills in French, as well as learning key beginner French vocabulary.
There are 180 bingo grids and 40 calling cards. All the grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game, and depending on the size of your class, there can be several winners per game. The grids with pictures are in both color and BW: color looks great, and I laminate these for class, using them with wipe-clean pens so that they can be recycled for years. The BW versions work really well for quick games - print and go!
There are 12 fruits featured - I’ve found this to be a reasonable and manageable number for young learners.
The fruits are:
the green apple : the lemon : the oranges : the peach : the raspberries :the pineapple : the kiwi : the pear : the bananas : the green grapes : the strawberry :
the watermelon
This set includes the following non-editable files:
40 picture-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages).
I give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students select grids randomly from the bowl.

Games with goals: these French vegetables bingo games for young beginner French learners.
There are 12 vegetables featured - I’ve found this to be a reasonable and manageable number for young learners.
The vegetables are:
the mushrooms : the cauliflower : thee carrots : the lettuce : the cucumber : the tomato : the cabbage : the potatoes : the garlic : the broccoli : the peas : the onions
